Here is the background..I have created a Master Calendar for our church showing all the room reservations and daily events viewable by all staff, mac or pc. Our event scheduling software is a module of our church master database and is not user friendly so I wanted everyone to see at a glance what is going on each day and what facilities were already taken.
This is what I did...(question coming soon I promise) I set up the database to email me ical appts. for each new entry. I hand entered all current reservations and events for the month of May plus all reoccurring events until the end of the year into Entourage 2008. This makes it viewable to all pc users through our exchange server. I set up permissions for all staff members to be reviewers only. In the preferences of Entourage I set to sync with iCal and .mac. This put the Entourage calendar into iCal as a separate calendar that I published to .mac and all the mac people just subscribed to it. As I update and make changes they all see it.
Okay here is the strange part. Twice my entire calendar has simply deleted itself. I watched in horror as one by one all the items vanished. Luckily, I had backed up only 30 minutes before. What happened was I had gotten a staff member a new macbook. He wanted desperately to take it home that night. I let him with the promise to bring it back first thing and let me finish configuring it. He totally screwed up all the Mail settings trying to set up Entourage himself. While fixing it I deleted the published calendar from ical and then it happened. My calendar began deleting everything even though he had no permissions on iCal or Entourage to do it.
I restored it and let it resync (with the proper settings for his entourage) and ten minutes later my calendar deleted itself again. This time a waring that my calendar was set to Cassablanca time zone and sync services failed. I restored again and so far it has stayed. I've tested other macs and they can't delete or change neither can the pcs. I am currently backing up daily just in case.
I'm not sure where to begin to look for the problem. Any suggestions?
