How does one set up an ICA client to work over the internet? I can't see where to enter the static IP address of the server on the client...

Simply log onto your NFuse server's web page - no need for any configuration. eg
Note that you will need to have the correct ports open on the firewall at the server end.

Hope this helps CitrixEngineer@yahoo.co.uk

Are you using Program Neighborhood? When creating a new connection it asks for the server, you can enter an IP address or a DNS name such as myserver.com if you have it registered.

We don't use NFUSE (haven't had time) and instead just have the proper port (1494) open on our PIX firewall.

When you setup the clients you give them the public IP that you have setup using NAT through your firewall and volia!

I think I have a document I wrote somewhere on PIX and Metaframe 1.8 configuration - it also includes client documentation. I'll look around if you think you'll need it.

Of course, it depends on which client is being used... CitrixEngineer@yahoo.co.uk

You are going to have to do some setup on the citrix servers, (all of them that are in the same farm). And if you are using .ica files, you'll need to edit them slightly. The links below might help.

To prepare your servers (I believe you'll only need steps 1-4):

To create an .ica file: Right click on the published app in the management console and select create ica file.

If you are using a firewall that is translating the internal address to the external (NAT) do the following:

You'll need to open the .ica file in notepad and edit a couple of things here. For one, you'll need to change the internal ip address to the external and you'll have to do the following:
Find the [TCP/IP] section. Specify 1 for the UseAlternateAddress field. For example:
UseAlternateAddress = 1

Then save the changes and try launching the file from outside of your network.

The Citrix ICA Client tells the server to send the alternate address specified with the Altaddr utility.
