Gurus - some help please :)

Today is the first day running live our brand new load balanced Metaframe 1.8 farm. We have two freshly built and tweaked (see Rick Dehlinger at thin) Win2000 servers. Both are dual P3 800Mhz with 2Gb RAM.

We have published Office XP and our CRM package - Saleslogix for those of you who know it - which has a SQL backend and links to Outlook. Plus Acrobat Reader, Winzip, Visio, Project and an a visualization app called MindManager

Around once an hour the ICA browser service crashes (mostly on the Master browser though also once on the other machine) and can't be coaxed back into life. The following error concerning ibrowser.exe shows at the logon screen. "The instruction at 0x010083cd referenced memory at "0x0008d57f" The memory couldnot be "read" ".

Any ideas - similar posts suggest the overnight reboot schedule to fix memory leaks - howver these boxes have been rebooted several times each today. At any one time there could be up to twenty five users on one box. Is this too many? I know the Master Browser function carries a lot of overhead.

I read this one on the Citrix support site. Hope it wasn't you. :)

The application, ibrowser.exe, generated an application error

Have you removed Microsoft Hotfix Q147222 from the registry? Have you installed Microsoft service pack 6, Hotfix Q269214 and Citrix service pack 3? You should have the same level of service packs on all the servers.

If you experience the issue even after installing Q269214, open a support call with Citrix.

Also, what is the output of "qserver/ debugnhwatch servername" command?

Hi Donnadee - thanks for your suggestions - I checked all this stuff tho and it seems NT4 WTS related rather than Win2000. SP3 is applied.

The qserver gives no response - although this is now when no one is logged on and there are no issues.

Can you (or anyone else) think of anything else? I have reduced the load balancing limit to zero on the MB so all it is doing is handling the browser functionality. The error still occurs and obviuosly users are loosing heart because they are all stuck on one server! :-(

Thanks

Jem

I vaguely remember something about explorer icons being a real drain on a system. There was some sort of work around that makes the system "ignore" the icons as graphics, and makes them tolerable by the system.

Do you mean IE icon?

Anyway - I made one config change to the server today - disabled the Citrix XML service (I'm not using NFUSE) or anything and the problem hasn't reoccurred.

Could there be a link?
