I recently bought an iBook off of eBay and then decided to resell it because I am not familiar with MACs and wanted a PC based one I could ulitize ASAP.
The person I re-sold the iBook to is know saying that the hard drive is bad and they want a replacement one sent to them.

When I used the iBook (which was only 2 times) i did not notice any problems.
I did some web research on bad hard drives. Everything I've read says that if you have a bad drive you will notice files missing or the drive will grind. None of this was the case when I had the iBook.

1. How do I know if the drive is truly bad?
2. Does anyone have any recommedations for me? What questions do I ask this user to see if the drive is bad?
3. If I had to send them a replacement drive is this even possible? Can you replace drives in iBooks?

Thanks for your help.

Offer to buy it back or refund if they do not like it. See eBay's terms for details.

Yes, drives are replaceable but I would worry about what your responsibility is in this. If you know for a fact that the computer worked, you may blame the problem on shipping, which should have been insured. Before you offer anything, I would buy the laptop back and inspect yourself or have a technician look at it. You cannot trust the buyer here. Act like any other computer manufacturer: don't give out free parts without examining the computer to see if it really needs them.

Like Windows, every Mac has a utility to check disks for errors (both software-related and hardware-related).

Why is everyone in this forum responding to me as picklefish?

I wouldnt even buy it back, inform the buyer that he needs to prove that the drive is bad. Also what does he mean when he says the drive is bad? has he just run some disdk tools? if so all he needs to do (I suspect) is to zero the drive and re-install. as jimoblak says the buyer should have had insurance, and really needs to prove that shipping wasnt the cause of the problem.
