For some time I am operating on a iBook G4 which I took after I have had infinite problems with viruses on Windows computers.

I am quite happy with the iBook although it is sometimes not reacting as quick as I wish for (and that after installing an enlargement of the hard disc memory).

Anyways, what are your recommendations of software for making websites using .mac? I bought Dreamweaver MX for .mac but wonder if there is another software available that is just as good.

Thank you for your consideration!

Dreamweaver is the biggie - most used. I have both Dreamweaver and Golive and find the Dreamweaver interface easier to understand and use.

Both of the above are memory hogs, so you need as musch as you can fit in an iBook. Also yu have to realize that there is not as much VRAM in an iBook as there is in the more expensive Powerbook - slowing down screen redraws.

Are you saying that you already paid that much for Dreamweaver without researching options?

The major players in web design are:

GoLive ( Cross-platform
Dreamweaver ( Cross-platform
FrontPage ( Windows-only now (Mac version is flaky/discontinued)
Nvu ( Cross-platform (and FREE)

Regardless of personal preferences (the ability to understand an application), no one application is better than another as they each have their strengths. If you already have Dreamweaver, use that!

Excellent tip on NVU. I'll have to try it! (I'm still doing web sites the old fashioned way - with VIM. :) )
