Hi....I purchased this server (8658) and have been successful in upgrading memory, but am stuck adding second cpu. I picked up a slot 1 800eb, but when installed I get a "VRM" error. Now, according to chart on side panel there is no "VRM" installed. Yet....the server will work fine with single cpu and terminator in second slot. I'm new at IBM stuff...can someone please advise me on what to do? Thanks in advance.

Doh!!....after some research, I find a vrm is required when second cpu is added. I do have a question concerning raid...if anyone is still reading after such a valid display of ignorance : )

My server came with windows 2000 loaded from seller. I also received a "ServeRaid" disc. When attempting to use utility, it says "ServeRaid not loaded". I have 2 9 gig drives installed, when booting the bios sees them. When started I only see 1 drive and it's 9 gig. How do I tell if these drives are mirrored? And lastly, can I run them "striped" for better performance?

They are mirrored. The x150 was an "appliance" server, already preloaded with the OS. Since there is a ServeRAID controller installed, it presents the mirrored (RAID 1) logical drive to the OS as a single physical disk. The message you saw is likely that ServeRAID Manager (program) is not installed. If you boot to the CD, you should be able to examine the RAID configuration without installing the application.
