Hi all,

We have a customers IBM x3400 server which isn't starting up.

The power lights on the back of the power supplies are green and the fans for the power supplies run ok.

There is a flashing green light on the front of the server which is in the top left of the case. When I press the power button nothing happens. When I press and hold in the power button, sometimes the server starts to boot, but then shuts off again just after the BIOS splash screen.

Any ideas what the problem is?

If it is a 7973 or a 7975, It's likely the system planer. PE is aware of the issue, and there is a field tip about this issue. Replacing the system planer fixes the issue.
