I have downloaded and rpm installed the latest package for IBM VNC. What is the configuration process necessary to get VNC up and running on my server (AIX 5.3)??

As of this moment I have the vncserver process running. I am unsure of any config changes that have to be made from here, ie: users etc....

So from my windows box I should be able to VNC to my AIX Server and vice versa? (like any other normal VNC setup)..

Any help with getting this working would be greatly appreciated!

hi ,
from your windows box , you need to install the vncviewer

( have you got any firewalls in place ? if so do you have ssh port open ?) if not i.e. if you can connect direct to
the server running vnc without any firewall authentication
, then start vnc on the UNIX server on particular session

i..e vncserver :2

on windows box , open up vncserver viewer ( you'll have to download and install this on your Pc)

set password for vnc by typing
vncpasswd

server : localhost:2

( the other as default )

if successful you'll be prompted for a password , this is the vncpasswd you setup )

If you have a firewall in place , then its a bit more tricly depending on whether you use SSH or X

that was correct, please note that everytime you run vncserver, it will display the host name and port number. Please note of this , and use it when you want to vnc over your aix box. example on your windows box,
xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:x

thanks!
