My boss has an IBM Thinkpad 390X that is periodically reposrting a corrupt registry and automatically retrieves and old copy. This fixes the issue for a brief period of time then he gets the message all over again. This is a relatively new PC with Office '97, Lotus Notes, and Visio 2000 on it. Any ideas?

Sometimes, these problems are caused by improperly installed devices. Ask your
boss if he is inserting or removing devices such as floppy drive/CD-ROM drive, PC
Cards, etc., when this problem happens.

I have seen many registry problems like the one you are describing. I would first look at memory being the culprit. Have you ran the memory check to completion from the BIOS???
