Greetings all,

I have an IBM Sure POS 500 that has XP freshly installed. However, I've tried about 10 different versions of the micro touch drivers, and none of them are able to see the touch controller.

Two noteworthy points:

1)I still have the hard drive containing Windows 98se that was previously in the system--if I put that drive back in, the touch works just fine, no problems. So, I know it isn't a hardware failure.

2) Simply "forcing" the micro touch drivers to use COM5 (what it was using in win98) did not work.

Is there something else that needs to be done here, or some proprietary driver that needs to be used (now using 5.63 sr).

Thanks!

I would suggest that you download the drivers from the ibm pos website. Also, be aware of which model number you are using. Since you say that you had win98 on it before, I'm assuming it is model 5x1. that's the driver to download. the newer models are 5x2 and 5x3. This is what I would suggest you do.

We never put out a 531 series with xp because it did not handle it well, to many issues. We did get win200pro to work on a 531 ok. The 532 and up seem to be ok with xp.
The 531 series are the ones with the db9 connectors and not the rj45 connectors for serial ports.
