Greetings.

First, I'd like to thank the users of this board for helping me find the software my server needs to be configured. The links and information have saved me a lot of time and energy.

However, I've ran into a problem. Using the ServeRAID support CD, I seem to be unable to choose "Configure RAID". The option is greyed out in the GUI. No drives are listed with I instruct the software to scan for them, and the mini-configuration utility never lists the drives in RDY or SBY status (just "---").

My setup is common, as my reading of this forum seems to indicate. 6 SCSI disks (4.5Gb each) hot-swappable. I can access these drives through an operating system. I can do software RAID via Linux, read and write from the individual disks, etc. I'd rather use the hardware RAID controller if possible.

Any advice?

You cannot configura RAID because it is already configured for the HDDs the controller is aware of (you're using it for your OS). Assuming you want to reconfigure RAID, you must right-click on the controller and select, "Return to factory defaults". This will erase the RAID configuration from the controller's NVRAM. Then you can configure RAID as you like. Assuming you've added HDDs and want to configure only the new drives, you can scan for new drives and they will show up as "Ready" drives.
