System: PII-100 400MHz
Adaptec AIC-7895
IBM ServeRaid Bios Ver 3.00.12
(5) IBM DGHS 9.10GB SCSI HDDs
256 MB Ram

System booted up fine to Windows 2000 Server.

Then I took it home and ignorantly removed the drives.
(I did not note which slot each came from)

When I put them back, system would not boot, got configuration errors out of the Serveraid screen.

I think it boots from SCSI slot 0, so I put the drives in, one at a time, to slot 0, and restart.

Eventually I hit F5 to reconfigure, then I get
"BIOS Not Loaded, No Devices Found" (with one drive-slot 0)

The Adaptec AIC7895 SCSISelect Utility 2.0 lists:
SCSI 0 thru 15, says No Device for all except 7 (Adapter).

A. How do I determine what drive goes where?

B. Why does not the SCSI Adapter recognize the HDD devices?

NOTE: Of the (5) drives,(4) were marked in pencil A,A,R,R.
The fifth was unmarked.

Thanks,
David B.

Are you using the onboard SCSI or a PCI ServeRAID card. The SCSI select utility is for the Onboard SCSI controller. Look for Ctrl-I Mini-config. If the drives are connected to a ServeRAID adapter then Mini-Config is where the HDD's will be listed. Are you trying to recover your array and data? Or are you just trying to start over from scratch and go vanilla?
