IBM LTO cleaning tapes

Hello to All,
Well I just purchased a few IBM lto universal cleaning cartridges. My question is since I purchased them off Ebay, How can you tell if the tapes are new or not? There are supposed to be brand new, but they didn't come with cases. Thanks in advance guys!!!
