I need to create the blinds or cutout text effect you see in the IBM logo to one letter. Can someone tell me how to do this? Is there a filter out there for Illustrator CS to do this quickly?
Thanks,
Mo

Mo - This is how I would do it:

Type your letter the way you want it and create an outline of the letter (to do this select the letter and click on Type | Create Outlines). Then place horizontal lines with your desired thickness on top of the letter where you want the blank lines to appear.

Next, make sure your Pathfinder dialogue box is showing (Window | Pathfinder), select your letter and the horizontal lines, then click the divide button in the bottome left hand corner of the Pathfinder dialogue box. Now ungroup the object and delete the areas you no longer need.
