Hello everybody,
We've installed an ASMA on a Netfinity 5600 and now we are trying to install the Director 3.1 in agree with the quick guide. After the installation has finished, we have started the Director Server Service but always this service goes down after start it.
Something know a similar problem?
Thanks in advance for your help and regards.
Simkin.

Hey,

I have the same problem, no messages in hte event log. The service wont start and I can't log in to the console. Does anyone have a remedy other than reinstalling.

Double-click the icon in the Task bar - I'm assuming it's a red diamond since the service stopped. Does it indicated where it failed? If not, restart the service and watch to see what fails. When installing, did you enable a network interface? If not, run Network Driver Configuration and enable one, then restart Director (Director Support Program) and the Director Server service should also start.

hi everybody,

also the server requires the correct ASM Driver installed before you install the director server software.

and you must install the server soft with a lokal or domain admin rights.

hope this helps,
markus

I have seen this twice in our implementation. Once was due to the fact that the account used to start director server did not have sufficient privileges in the domain. The other time occurred because Director could not write to the SQL database we were using, and the DSN had to be rest

If you have ie6 installed the server cannot access the database. it generates a java exception error and the server will never start.

Install ie 5 or 5.5 and try again

IE 6 is ok with IBM Director v3.1. The installation UserID should be from the same as the normal Logon ID - If logging onto a Domain, install with a Domain Admin ID. If logging onto a WorkGroup, use a local Admin ID to install.

Maybe I should expand on the IE6 Support Thing..

IE6 is fine with the Console and Agent.
IE6 is NOT Supported with the Director Server (Only)

I have had so many problems with IE6 that I actually believe the developers now as I tried to get ie6 working with it. (it did work on a machine that was connected to a SQL database, maybe it is something to do with the MDB connector).

This is the error messages I get :

Application Error
Application: 'TWGServer (TWGVersion 3.10 2001-11-30 buildid 222)'
Error Code: 2
Error Message: 'com.tivoli.twg.engine.TWGExtensionInitException: Error during com.ibm.sysmgt.nfeventext.nfhealthextension.InitClassInstances() - com.tivoli.twg.engine.TWGExtensionInitException: Error instantiating HealthTask: Resource bundle "com.ibm.sysmgt.nfeventext.nfhealthresources" not found for task itdcim|HealthServerTask'

Can someone help ????

Do you have IBM Director SP1 installed? If so, look for two files in the UMS\ci\ directory with an extension of .jar.ren. Rename them removing the .jar (so it's only .ren) then reboot.
