Hi, I am curious if anyone here is running an IBM Bladecenter? We have ordered one and it is taking forever for it to get here (delayed at least twice). Experiences with running one? Reason you went with one over Dell? Support issues, configuaration issues, thoughts? Thanks!

This is not really an answer to your question, but we looked at a blade center,, the setup seemed very nice. We opted to go with 2 HP machines, 4 way processors, running the AMD dual core. Then using the ESX server piece from VMWare virtualize everything possible. Yes we configured a SAN, cost was a big part of us going to 2 4-ways. Especially on the SAN,, the cost for the IBM drives was way more than the HP. And because of our business partner, I would have expected delays out the .. well you know.

We have 2 Blade-Centers, Will be ordering a third.
Is it the chassis that it taking time?
What blades have you ordered?
We run a combination of HS20 and HS40
We run Application servers, DB servers
VMware EXS. Windows 2003 32 bit and X86 64bit,
SUSE, etc.
We are biased, We only run IBM Servers.

Dell said they would loan us one to try, but it never showed up.

We like them. If it is taking time to receive find yourself a new dealer.

Larry,,

Would love to talk, via email with you, about the VMware ESX. james.denton@hinklecontracting.com
