All works well on my side for i2004 sets, but now I want to use the i2050's instead. The port is a normal i2004 phone with no fancy stuff, just receiving and dialing.

I installed the client fully(and restarted the PC);
I use 2000 as an operating system, so I installed the Windows QoS and the Nortel Qos (and restarted the PC);

I started the configuration tool;
As we do not use (yet) DHCP in this VLAN I inserted the following IP addresses:
ITG cards: 172.10.10.10 / 172.10.10.11;
PC: 172.10.10.23 (if I would use e.g. the 99, no connection);
Comm. Server: 172.10.10.23 port 4100 (Meridian);
selected sound devices: USB Audio Device (the default Nortel one);
Server type: Meridian 1
Listener IP: Use all addresses Port 4100.

All seems OK now, but if I start the client the display shows the following:
"Connection established.
Reinitializing..."

If I use an i2004 phone for this port (TN: 148-0-0-3) all works fine. The first time on a i2004 you have to press the 4 softkeys, but this doesn't fix it here.

you have to program the i2050 TN for use the soft phone

OK, I can understand that (will also be a part of a possible purchase), but the i2050 is available also for 25.15, isn't it?

If you are running rls 25.15 the I2050 will not run. I had to upgrade to 25.40 to even get my SMC 3.0 card to work.

OK, thanks, I'll go yell at my vendor now....

Anyone,
We have some i2050 client (on W2K) that keeps restarting after a few minutes of operation. I've gone through the Nortel troubleshooting recommendation, but still no luck. Anyone have any other suggestions?

Thanks

When it keeps on restarting it seems a network issue. Are you sure the network is setup correctly? As soon as a softclient looses it's connection to the ITG card(s) the software restarts.

also to check if you can use i2050 phones you can log into the maint port on the ITG card and do

pbxInfoShow and it will show you what types of phones are supported with your software.

i2050 that restarts is a firewall issue.

From time to time (about 1 time each minute or so) the system sends a "keep alive" question to the i2050.
This is sent on another port in the firewall.

The i2050 can work about a minute as it uses another port in the firewall for speach information.

But when the system does not have a reply on the "keep alive" question (wich cant get through) it thinks the i2050 is dead and tries to restart it.
So it is a normal behavior, if the firewall is configured wrong.
