Local admin rights on the PC?

It's not getting any smarter out there. You have to come to terms with stupidity, and make it work for you.

Most of the changes can be accessed by clicking on the Nortel symbol at the top left hand side of the I2050 box.

mikeyb123 - what if one has local admin rights?

firebirdscrambler - you can't change comm serve stuff from Nortel symbol...

Thanks

Hello Mikeyb123

All of the user phone settings can be changed there. However the "fixed" settings such as IP address, System type has to be done from the "Configuration Tool" drop down menu. This is found via the "Start", "Programs", "Nortel Networks", "i2050 software phone","Configuration Tool" etc.

I've done this little guide, which may help..

How to install & program a Meridian I2050 Soft Phone onto a computer

Install the software in the usual way under “C:\Program Files” etc, using the defaults given within the Setup.exe program. Once completed, You will be asked to reboot the P.C.

Before you start up the I2050 from the desktop, "Click on the Start button". Go to Programs & onto Nortel Networks.

Select from I2050 software phone, the Configuration Tool.

Under "Communications server" select use the following servers address information & enter in the IP address of your configured ITG Line card. E.g. 192.168.0.4

The port should be 4100 (Meridian 1). The other settings within the tool should be ok as they are.
You may need to check the sound devices.

After you have done that, Start up the I2050 phone & you will be prompted to enter in the node & TN.
e.g. Node = "1" & TN = 84 15. Use the Up, Down, Left & Right arrow keys below the display or the “Tab” key to navigate to the correct lines.

It’s a good idea to click on the Nortel symbol (System), Which is located on the top left-hand side of the I2050 Phone box.

It will produce a drop down box. Click on the “Trays” (Top line) & then tick the “Combo” box.
This will open up the keypad & 1st Six Meridian keys for you, below the screen to use.

You can create a shortcut in your programs start up group task bar settings. So that the phone will always fire up when you switch on the Laptop!

Firebirdscrambler,
I have some that are grayed out even if I log in as admin???

Thanks

What operating system are you running on? I've only ever got the I2050 soft phone to work on Windows 2000 & XP Home (So far!). You will need to be certain that you have gone in at the "Administration" level.
As Mikeyb123 stated, check that you do have control access to the program.

Thanks firebirdscrambler, I'll double check (and not take the tech word for it). We're running on W2K & XP only.

Have you also encounter i2050 re-starting? I've gone through the Nortel troubleshooting suggestion.

Thanks

Definetly admin level... Could Palm software affect things?

Sorry, I don't know about Palm software. I have just put in a reply on this forum about starting up a I2050 soft phone.
