i2007 asking for password when hit config softkey

I am trying to connect an i2007 on VLAN2 to a BCM50 R1 on VLAN1. When I hit the configuration key on the i2007 it asks for a password. If I am connected to the same VLAN as the BCM it does not ask for the password. The problem is that without the password I cannot get into the configuration of the phone to point it to the BCM.

I was also told (and I am going to test tommorrow) that if you plug in the phone with a power brick and do not connect the network Cat5 cable it also asks for the password when you hit config.

Has anyone else experienced this? If so what is the password? I have tried everything i could think of (ie, config, admin, 0000, 1234, blank, etc.)
