I am installing a new BCM 400 4.0 with 10 i2004 phones. These are existing phones that are currently on an option 11 ITG card. When I look at the Configuration/data services/dhcp server/leases I can see the ip address that has been assigned to the phone, but the phone sits with just the default time and date 01/01 12:00. Do I need to update the firmware on the phone? And if so, how do I do that. I also have 30 T7316e phones on the system and they appear to be working fine. I have gone through the setup on the phone and tried giving it a static address on the system and that didn't work either. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks in advance!

do you have your ip seats installed on the BCM, do you have the registration turned on, did you get into the ip set and input your settings dhcp,ip,s1port, etc.

Yes, I have IP seats availiable, I enabled set registration, and I went through the setup on the phone itself. The phone does get an address from the BCM but it still says server unreachable restarting......

I did put the BCM address into the phone, but it will also get it from DHCP. It is set for port 7000. I can ping the phone but it still says "server unreachable" I've tried setting it for partial dhcp and full dhcp. Is there any setting in NAT that I need?

turn registeration on in the bcm - is there a regn password?
is BCM set as DHCP Server for phones or as relay agent
are there any IP phones registered on the BCM and not connected? (that could use up the licenses)

what is the BCMs published IP Address

also these phones are phase 0, (NTEX00BA). I am starting to think that they aren't compatible after browsing some of the forums here.

Please visit thread1361-1193466.

I got my Phase 0 i2004 sets (same as yours) to work with this fix. You will need to email the fellow that responded to my many posts, but he will send you all you need to get your phone(s) up and running. His message is at the bottom of the thread.

I finally got them to work, I had 2 calls into Nortel Tech Support with some guy in India that was no help. And I ordered new phase 1 phones. When I plugged in the first new IP set it started to download its firmware... and so did all of the older phase 0 sets. I don't know why that happened but I will take what I can get. Thanks to everyone that helped out.
