We have been running a few IP phones for a little while now, and all of them are the i2004 model. Recently, I have had two of them give me problems. I can plug in the Ethernet cord and get the phone to work; it dials out, receives and makes calls just fine. But when I put the cord in going from the phone to the computer, to pass the connection along, the computer can't get out. It shows that the network cable is plugged in, but you can't get onto the network from the computer. The phone still works fine.
The phone is running on a DHCP IP addresss, and the computer's IP is statically assigned. We are running PoE on Cisco Catalyst switches. I've changed cords, checked that the ports aren't being restricted on the Cisco switch. Changed ports anyway, all to no avail.
I'm beginning to think that the port in the phone might be bad, but two of the phones having the exact same issue? I was just wondering if anyone else has ever run into this problem, and if so, how you resolved it.
Thanks!
