Has anyone heard of or experienced a I2004 Phase 1 set's ethernet port being damaged by connecting to PoE?

Thanks.

I have found this old report below for the UK market

The new BES 200 line of 10/100 and Gigabit Ethernet switches are being sold now by a UK supplier.
For sites with Phase 1 IP sets i2002/4 this will cause a problem with Power Over Ethernet (PoE)

Phase 1 sets are not 802.3af compliant but have worked to other Ethernet switch's via a variety of splitters
that strip the power off the LAN, and feeds it into the barrel jack on the back of the phone.

Currently Phase 1 sets will work with (BS 460, BS 5520 or PP 8300) and PowerDsine Power over LAN hub,
and require splitter DY4311015
The same splitter (DY4311015) as used with Phase 0 IP phones is used to power Phase 1 i200x phones from the BayStack 460 or PowerDsine Power over LAN Hub.
The Phase 1 IP sets will also work with the BS 460, BS5520-PWR and PP8300-PWR with a different
splitter (DY4311046*)

But none of these current Splitters with work with the BES 200 Ethernet switch.
This was escalated to Nortel but as there's no design support for the i2004 regarding PoE. You must be aware that sites upgrading to a BES 200 will experience PoE problems with Phase 1 i2002/4 sets using Splitters.

All the best
