i2004 @ home

What equipment do you need to set up a i2004 at home? Can I set up a hardphone to go through the VPN connection on my laptop to the PBX at my work? We have the itg line cards, phones,and licenses. Do we need any other equipment? how would i go about setting it up?

Hi,

If you what to use an I phone at home, try the I2050 softphone. It's much easier to setup at home then the real phones.

If you setup a VPN with your laptop you need to setup ICS or something like that. And in ICS you need to specify all the ports that need to be forwarded to the I phone (The I phone is an server app.). When you use the I2050 it's on the laptop so you do not need to forward or configure any network stuff.

To set-up an i2004/2002 "at home" a DSL/Cable Modem with a stable IP address (most dynamic rarely change if attached to a router) is required. A VPN router (Netgear or Linksys) is required. Set-up a VPN tunnel between the home private network address and the TLAN (private network address). Connect the iSet as normal with a home network address (limited DHCP does work). Be sure to set-up a different Zone for the set. Be sure the Zone bandwidth for Interzone does not exceed the CIR for your down link.
