Has anyone experienced any differences in configuring I2002 sets and I2004's. We have over 150 of the 2004 sets and are trying to configure a few 2002 sets but keep getting "trying to connect to server" messages. Is there something special about them?

thanks in advance.

Nope nothing special. Are you using full dhcp and your network settings are the same? uses the same s1 and s2 address as the 2004 and the same port usually 4100.

check the dhcp scope it sounds like you need a unique entry
for the nortel I2002-A boot up message in offset 128

Nope they use the same string I2004-A. Try setting the IP and all static and see if you still have a problem reaching the server. Sounds like you are getting the DHCP info ok but you just can't find the server. Vlan set correctly on the cisco or nortel switch port?

What software rls is your PBX and which phase is ur i2002?

Log into the sig server and monitor the display when you plug in one of the i2002 phones, see if you get any messages, it might help if none of the above suggestions work.

usually it's a typo on the phone if you are using static settings... (mask, vlan, NODE IP for S1)

Good luck

TNPhoneman: nortel lab notes are probably accurate

CSE Lab Note Configuring DHCP for use with i2004/i2002 IP Phone
(Note: If using an i2002 IP Phone, then change the String to read “Nortel-i2002-A……..)
