I put a previous message on here about how I couldn't get my hard drive to format. Now since i was able to cure my problem I can't get windows to install. When im in Dos and type D:setup the windows 95 boot disk told me invalid drive specifications. How can I install windows from a cd?

If you boot from Win98 boot disk with CD rom support, then a virtual drive, usually D, is built. So your Cdrom drive is probably drive "E". "A little knowledge is a dangerous thing....." [morning]

are you trying to install 95 or 98, if 98 i would boot off of a startup disk, and do a format c:/s, i found that when i boot and format from the 98 cd it always hangs during install, i dont know why, but it does, anyways what os r u installing?

Once CDROM working best to copy all install files to:

C:\Windows\options\cabs

run install from there. When asked for location enter C:\Windows, ignore warnings. Once done Windows will never ask for install disk again when making settings changes - will get from HD.

Try all options above. Great ideas!
