Well I'll be third! I have Linux SuSe 6.2 installed and will shortly configure it as a home server. I'm planning to have Linux running as a server, use Windows98 as a client and will TRY to get an old PS2/70 (MCA) running as a Linux router to get on the NET. So, I'll definitely have a few questions, soon.<br>
And I'll be more than happy to share my Linux skills with anyone although they are limited. But boy, is Linux fun (it never works the first time...I must be masochist! ;-)at learning how your OS works. <br>

Vanpat, good luck with the MCA box ;^) You thinking of having it connected to the net full time? If so, I'd do some homework on security issues, etc, and make sure you're fully patched up with the latest security fixes, etc. Nothing some script kiddy vandal with a fist full of programs and well known security holes likes more than a permanently on Linux box <br>

WHY WHY OH WHY are you going to use win98 as client for the internet??? When you have linux on other machines? It's far easyer to keep all your machines on one operating system, for you can then admin all machines from each other. And have roaming profiles so when you go to anyone of them your own settings are loaded (sort of).<br>

Hello AndyBo, about the Linux(Server) forum, I have not seen one yet in TekTips or I must be blind... As for the MCA router, I know I'll have &quot;fun&quot; with it...I don't even have a reference diskette and it turns out that the HD capacity is 120 MB !!! And no, it will not be connected at all times on the NET, just as a dial out server for my client(s). Thanks for the encouragement, I'll need it!<br>

Sijones, the only reason I still use a Windows client is because I have not yet configured all the plugins for my Linux Netscape. I find it a real hassle and ther's not much documentation on it or I just don't get it... I'm still hanging in there and long for the day I will get rid of Windows for good. I hate to admit this to you guys, but IE5 is alot better than Netscape for Linux which hangs most of the time (on my system, anyways). <br>
On another note, I find that I cannot get the best out of my Matrox Mystique 220 with Linux's X server. On Windows, I have the Matrox QuickDesk which allows me to change the gamma range to override my monitor settings. On Linux, I find that most of the graphics are just too dark...BTW, is there any tool that would allow me to do the same on Linux ??? That would really help! <br>

As far as I am aware you shouldn't have to cofigure plugins for netscape, just drop them in the plugins directory and as long as there in the search path it should load them fine.<br>

I am currently using KDE on SuSe 6.2. But what I am asking is probably impossible to get since I'm talking about the Matrox driver for Windows. Since they were reluctant to make any drivers public until the G line came out, I doubt that I'll have any luck. Unless, there is more configuration needed but where ??? I did just what the doc directed. Dropped the plugger.so in the plugins directory. This plugin is supposed to open various file formats (AVIs, MPEGs...). Perhaps, you use this plugin or have one to recommend? As for Netscape 4.7, I'll give it a try. <br>
