I want to use Maximum function in the record selection but can't

Hi, I am using Crystal 8.5 with Oracle. I need to use maximum function in the record selection but I get message saying this function must be evaluated later. I think Crystal does not support this function in the first pass to the database. I also created a shared variable to hold the Max value of the field and then tried to use it in the record selection, but that shared formula does not show in the list of formulas. Is there anyway to use this function in the record selection? thanks very much

Not enough detail, but either an sql expression or using the Group Selection formula rather than the Record Selection formula should provide a solution.
