I am running Windows XP and want to start Ubuntu from my CD drive.

When I restart the computer, the CD drive does not boot the Ubuntu disk.

How do I get XP to check this drive during boot up?

Thanks.

You don't... XP has nothing to do with this at all...

You need to change the BOOT order within the BIOS, to reflect the CD/DVD as the first BOOT device...

You'll need to determine the right key to press, but there will be a magic key you can press BEFORE Windows starts to load that will take to a BIOS editing screen that will let you change your BIOS settings.

You also need to make sure the Ubuntu CD is good.

Thanks, pentode.

Yep, it's direct from the Isle of Man.
