I am looking to start a support forum on my local intranet site, and I am not sure where to start looking.. Is there a easy way to create one, or do you have any suggestions of software I can purchase? I would like it to be based on a sign on to track who is using it and a admin section for clearing out the database.

Thanks

If you have PHP available then I would reccomend PHPBB

It's simple to install, simple to manage and there are lots of custom add ons available if you are so inclined.

Plus, it's very popular.

Thanks for the link.. Do you know if it works with frontpage?

chridd, you don't need to use FP with it. It's self configured. Basicalle you install it and run it. If you want different looks for it, there are plenty of skins for it. I administer one and there's nothing to it.

But if as Foamcow asks, "Are you looking to integrate the forum into another site?" I have never done that so would not know...

Thanks for the info.. I guess I am just asking is it possible to have a link on my site that takes the user to the forum? I use FP as my primary web editor.. I don't have intentions on changing the look as of yet.

Yes of course it's possible to link from your site to it.
It's just another collection of web pages. You would link to it exactly as you would link to any other page.

Doesn't matter if you are using Front Page or whatever.

You DO need to be able to run PHP on your webserver and have a database available. The most common would be MySQL but I believe you can also install PHPBB with some other database systems.

This might be a bit obvious, but why not host your forum at Tek-Tips?

Can you see the irony in posting to a support forum to ask how to create a support forum?
