ANYONE OUT THERE KNOW OF A COMPANY THAT YOU CAN SELL A PRINTER TO AND GET SOME KIND OF SALVAGE VALUE FROM IT?

IF ANYONE CAN HELP I WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE IT.

ebay. Tell us what kind of printer and somebody might have a better idea.

Lower case, please. It is easier on the eyes.

Ed,

Its an HP4550 DN if you can direct me somewhere other than e-bay it would be great.

You could look at some of the buyers listed at , but you've got to realize that the commercial people buy for pennies on the dollar.

And what geographic area? Might help tickle somebody's desire for a replacement printer.

Buying 1 printer for salvage is probably not worth anyones time (or expense of shipping the thing). Selling it on ebay may bring $25.00 and the buyer pays shipping. Selling it as salvage may bring you $50.00, but you will have to absorb the shipping costs (about $50.00) - not very profitable. Botton line, there really is no market for computer salvage, unless you have a large lot. I have operated a computer business for almost 20 years. At 1 time, there was a market for used, salvagable computer equipment. About 5 years ago, we moved from a large building to a smaller one after we realized that 50% of our rented space was for warehousing. This cost us $600/month and brought us virtually no income, so we eliminated it. We now realize that it is more cost effective to throw out used equipment (we actually drive it over to a scrap recycler and dump it there) than it is to handle, store refurbish and resell it.

For your $600 you can afford to upgrade 2 machines or printers a month. I pretty much agree with your analysis.

The local newspaper might be another avenue of disposal. And donation to a charity sometimes is advantageous.

The 4550DN is a nice printer... what's wrong with it?

Where is it? The other thing you might consider is donating it to a school, church, etc. You can often get more for the tax write-off than selling it. <Shrug>
