I want to paste a .gif (or a .png) file that has tranparent edges in a Wordperfect 10 document. But the transparent edges show up as white in color and part of the image. My friends that use Microsoft Word have no problems doing this as, by definition, the transparent portion should not show up in a document. Any suggestions as to how to do this - or is it best to finally give up on WordPerfect (after using it since the mid-1980's).

Don't give up on WP - it is much superior to Word. I just tested a transparent gif in both Word and WP9 and the graphic showed up correctly in each. Are you sure the image you are using was saved correctly as a gif? If you have Paint, use it to open the gif you wish to use. Then go to IMAGE, ATTRIBUTES and click on USE TRANSPARENT BACKGROUND COLOR and choose the color you want to disappear in your WP document. If that doesn't work, I will try to think of something else, if you haven't found another solution in the meantime.
