I have a machine at home running Windows XP. I want to be able to access some of my data on that machine from work, school, etc. How are some of the ways I can do this?

What version of XP? If it is Pro then maybe remote desktop (or VNC) through VPN. I don't even know if you can VPN into it though, you'll need to look it up.

Hi Jenison,

At home:
1. In My Computer|Proprties|Remote, check the box: Allow users to connect remotely to this computer.

2. Go to your router and foward port 3389 to the IP address of your computer.

Make a note of the IP address your router is using to connect to the internet.

At work:
1. Start | Programs | Accessories | Communications|Remote Desktop Connection.
2. Enter the IP address you noted earlier your router uses.
.. and log in!

Easy huh :)
