I want a layer to go right across my screen, so I set it at 100% resolution. It lloks like it takes up the whol screen width in DM4. I've set the background color of the layer to blue then checked it out in ie5.

The layer goes from the left of the screen and stops about 15 pkls short of the right hand side? When I change the size of the layer to 105% to compensate, I get horizontal scroll bars?

How do I get a layer to take up the whole screen width?

Hi nippi!

I can't understand why do you use layers so much? I personally do it very seldom.

But anyway here are my thoughts:
I think you could forget to set Left/Top Margin of page. I tried to do what you need and here what I have:
1) with IE 5.0 - it works fine;
2) with NN 4.7 - I have white space on the right for about 15px wide. It's because NN keeps this place for croll and you can't use it (I also inserted table with 100% width below layer and it have the same problem - right 15px are kept for scroll bar);
3) with NN 6.0 - it works fine.

So now we have problem only with NN 4.7 and this problem seems to me aren't solvable. Forget about this and take it as is - there will be white place in NN.

Good Luck!

Dear Eugene

I would have thought my use of layers was obvious. After my nic you will see(technical user). After yours you will see (programmer).

I can't write javascript, so I use the tools I have to make things happen. I can do more with layers than I can with tables.

I can write almost no code in fact, something I have in common with most of the other novices in this forum.

Hi nippi!

If you really just started - you did a greate start!

I would recommend for you to use tables instead of layers.
There are some problems with tables as well as with any other thing on the Earth (when you have really big table browser shows it only when whole table is loaded, it can't be shown part by part as text for example). If working with tables is a bit difficult for you - just do it more often and you'll see how it's easy.

I prefer tables because you may do with them almost everything (sometimes I even replace images with tables) and you know - the most important thing - that it works almost everywhere (any platform, any browser...).

I recommend to work with tables!!!
