Hi,
Just want to see if anyone agrees with me. When I turn on this desktop computer...Nothing comes up on the Monitor. I'm told that the last time it came up...it 1)prompted for the user to select setup and then 2) froze with a line on the bottom of the screen which said loading files. I tried another monitor and still no video, which is built into the motherboard (an HP desktop). I'm inclination is to just put the drive in another desktop and see if I can salvage anything for the user. Unless someone has a better idea.
Thanks,BobL

Do you have a video card you can throw in it real quick? If on-board is shot then this would be an easy fix.
When you hit the power button on the desktop, does it sound like its trying to start correctly, i.e. do the Power and HDD LED light come on, do fans spin up?
Have you tried removing and re-seating RAM? Lot of issues sound like this are fixed by this or replacing with a known good stick.

All these can be done within minutes as opposed to having to backup and remove files to another system or reinstall Windows on this one. Would try the easy things first if it was me.

I agree, if you have a video card you can try it would be a good option. Also if you let it boot up, about 3 to 5 minutes should be enough, and then try to remote in can that be done.

Even just pinging would tell you if its actually up and running or not.
