Well, once again I have missing records from a production table that I would bet is the result of a rogue query...and no one will 'fess up! Does anyone know of any method besides I-Spy to capture any amount of auditable history so I can tell whos is doing what? Since I-Spy would run me $17K per my IBM partner, I would settle for half-@$$ homegrown methods at this point.

I dont have enough disk to log transactions and the security in the shop I work in is very permiscous with no hopes of changing. I have half a mind to put triggers on all my production tables just to log whats going on, but of course the overhead and logged data would create as much of an issue as logging.

Anyone have ANY ideas?

Hi,

You may use secure auditing features inbuilt to IDS to trace the successful or unsuccessful user activities in a database.

A related thread below, puts more light on this issue. Please gothrough.

Good Luck!

Hello,

Yes I too have records vanashing from one of my production tables. I've set up the Trusted Auditing Facility (onaudit) but have not located the cause yet. If you discover anything interesting please let me know.

Thanks,

Jack

Hi vpshriyan,
Thanks a lot for your post it was very straight forward and I was very surprized! I'm new to informix but our company has needed the ability to audit for a long time and you would not believe the horror stories we have about rogue delete or update statements. Seeing the ease of setting 'trusted facility' up makes me wonder what the heck our former dba did all day.

If nothing else, I think the fact that we can audit will make our programmers think three times before firing off a faulty query that takes us hours to recover from.
-thanks
