I removed the back up battery of a Thinkpad

I played around with a Thinkpad T21 2647-8AG and removed the back up battery. Now the Bios requests a password. Why does it ask for a password and what to do against it ?

Try hitting the spacebar once and enter. Sorry best I can think of. Failing that got to IBM.com and put a question on the forum for your machine. There is also an excellent IBM forum at Thinkpads.com where you may also get help.
