I recently configured ftpd on a Solaris 8 system. When I log into the server as anonymous I am able to issue commands but do not see any output. For example when I run the ls command, the command completes successfully but I do not get a directory listing. This is the same for mkdir, and other commands. The commands work as evident when looking at newly created directories from telnet session...but again these are not visible in the anonymous ftp session. Please help!!

Hello,

Which ftp client are you using?

Maybe you'll have to set this client to passive mode (for example when connecting from a RedHat 8.0 to a Solaris 8 ftp server, you have to issue PASV command).

Try this and post again. Bye,

Did you sort this out? While looking into your banner question I noticed this on the ftpd man page, which may be worth checking:

[tt] ~ftp/etc
Make this directory owned by the superuser and unwrit-
able by anyone. Copies of the files passwd(4),
group(4), and netconfig(4) must be present for the
ls(1) command to work properly. These files should be
mode 444.[/tt] Annihilannic.
