Using FoxPro 2.6 with Window95 on a Novell system. On this particular workstation, when I open a FoxPro generated application it gives me the following error message: " SYSTEM ERROR Windows cannot read drive D:. If this is a network drive, make sure the network is working. If it is a local drive, check the disk. Cancel Retry."

I can Cancel and bring the menu/forms up but when I try to Print I get an I/O Operation Error.

The Fox generated application does not default to D: in any of the code!

Drive D is this workstation's CD drive. If I put any CD in the drive I can operate as normal, with no errors.

Any solution? Thanks in advance.

A couple of things to check.

Can you search for occurrences of SET DEFAULT TO within the application - could be the default path has been set to D:

Also, is there a CONFIG.FP (FPW) file used in conjuction with the APP. This startup file may cause some defaults to be stored.

Try changing the drive letter of your cd rom drive. Proceed in the following way:
1. Go to Control Panel (by clicking Start and then Settings and then choosing control panel)
2. Choose system
3. Choose device manager
4. double click on CD rom
5. Choose the CD Rom listed under CD ROM
6. Choose properties and then settings
7. Change the start drive letter to E (for example or any other letter you want)
8. Change the end drive letter to the same letter chosen above

The application may have been built on a d: drive. If this is the case move it to a c: drive an rebuild.

also look in the computers C:\autoexec.bat file for a line or three that starts with the word PATH and see if there is a "D:" in the statement
or
Ask the net work administrator to check the clogin scripts for that computer and see if a path statement is set at login time.
