Hello All,

We have created executable files stored on the server along with crf and rpt files the exe is then kick started using a excel macros attached to a button. However one or two users have recently report the above error message when they try to run certain reports. There doesn't seem to have been anything changed since they were previously run but now they generate this message. It seems that this is corrected if we simply re-compile the report (we don't even make any physical changes).

We use Crystal 8 to create the reports based on an Oracle 7.3 database

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

Is your excel properly setup to get external data? What is you ran the report by just dbl clicking on the .exe from windows explorer? Software Training and Support for Macola, Crystal Reports and Goldmine

Dgillz,

Thanks for the response. Excel doesn't get the data it just runs the excel through a simple shell command. When it was first report we followed the sets the user took (i.e. ran the report through the Excel front end) and got the same error. We also tried dbl click in windows explorer and we got the same error message. But if we re-compile the problem seems to be fixed, at least temporally.
