I am receiving that error when I try to save something new or burn something from my hard drive. I have tried several options and was hoping for some other ideas that could get this hard drive working correctly again. I purchased this brand new around a year ago and I've got about 200 gigs on there I would hate to lose. So here is the run down on what I can still to with this drive.
I CAN STILL ACCESS MY FILES
I CAN DELETE AND MOVE FILES TO AND FROM THE HARD DRIVE
I CAN STILL WATCH THE MOVIES AND LISTEN TO THE MUSIC

Ok here are the thinks I can't do with it.
I CANNOT DEFRAG, RUN WINDOWNS ERROR CHECKING, OR CHKDSK
I CAN RUN SEAGATES SEATOOLS FOR WINDOWS BUT ONLY THE SHORT SCANS, NOT THE EXTENDED ONES
I HAVE TRIED HDD REGENARATOR, PERFECT DISK, REGISTRY MECHANICS, PCI INSPECTOR FILE RECOVER

I also hear a clicking sound sometimes but one would think that its not the click of death because I am still able to access files, or maybe it is, who knows, thats the reason why I am posting here. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

how tech savy are you?

if you are somewhat or a techy, then remove the drive from its enclosure and place it into the PC, then run the drive manufacturers DIAG tools on it... if they return just one error, then remove the data ASAP and replace the drive...

Only ask questions with yes/no answers if you want "yes" or "no"

I wouldn't advise moving it out of its enclosure if it's still under warranty though.

Just to be safe start moving the most important stuff off.

If its an external drive, and the warranty is over then yes try removing it form the enclosure and plugging it directly in. Otherwise, after removal of the important stuff, send it in for repair to the manufacturer.

If its clicking it often means a power problem, as the clicking usually refers to the read arm going back to the parked position when power is cut.

Clicking to me means the head is crashing around, which is worse news than a power-related issue. My rule was if clicking, get it turned off ASAP and this is backed up by our data recovery company which said the same thing - that it might be damaging data on your platters.
