i installed a duel boot system on my IBM with windows and linux mandrake and after deleted the linux partition i cant get rid og the lilo boot choser.

Get a windows 95/98 or whatever boot disk, and boot the PC. After it boots, run the command

a:\fdisk /mbr

You have to make sure you put this file on the disk, you can copy it off of the c-drive if you need to.

WHich will re-format your Master Boot Record and the machine will re-boot, clean of LILO. As always, I hope that helped!

Disclaimer:
Beware: Studies have shown that research causes cancer in lab rats.

You can also try 'lilo -u /<name_of_harddrive (/dev/hd[a-f]*)>' that'll remove lilo and restore the old "circumstances"...

Hope it'll help without wrecking your HDD! regards
chenn

Also if you do a 'man fdisk' it reports that there is a fault with the DOS/WindowZ fdisk and informs you how to remove the first block on the disk where the MBR is.

dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/WHICHDISK db=512 count=1

So next time this happens you'll know where to look. (I have done this 3 times and spent hours trying to remember, fount the answer last night!!)
