I need to power down my Avaya VOIP siwtch for the first time, would like to know if someone can tell the correct steps to power down and power back up. These are the equipment that I have:

2 - Avaya 8720's
1 - Intuity LX Voice Mail
1 - Avaya AES server
1 - Sun CMS Server
1- Dell Etalk Voice Recorder
4 - G650 Gateways

Any direction would be helpful.

8720 power down - From the shell, run command "/sbin/shutdown -r now" or via "init 6".
From web interface, under "server" tab, click on "Shutdown Server" and then select now.

Intuity LX - At the Administration menu, and select Utilities > Shutdown System.

AES - Shutting down the server via the web page can be found in Operations Adminstration & Maintenance.
To shut-down and restart via the command prompt: shutdown -r now

CMS - faq690-5456

G650 - pull the plugs

in my opinion the best way to make that is via Web the steps "mojoputter" told u already:

1) 2) I recomend make a backup: In the Administration menu> Data Backup/Restore> Backup Now> Method FTP.
3) At the Administration menu, and select Utilities > Shutdown System.
4) G650 - pull the plugs !!! dont even have buttons.

/sbin/shutdown -r now - That will reboot the system....

man shutdown

-r Reboot after shutdown.
