Newbie!

I have IIS running on a client machine inside the network.

I want username/password acess to the website.

How do I do this??

Can I create a security group and assign users to that group with outside access to the website??

Very confused

Go to Internet Information Services and open the properties on the Web Site you want to configure. Choose the directory tab, and click on the edit button for Anonymous access and authentication control. Uncheck Anonymous access and check basic authentication. Set the Default Domain: Click OK. From you web server add the security group you created to the root directory of your web page and apply appropriate NTFS permissions (Read in most cases). Example - C:\inetpub\ Remember to remove any NTFS permission the you dont want such as the everyone group. Next time someone access the web page they will be prompted for authentication. If this is a server connected to the outside world you may want to use SSL to protect usernames, passwords, and Data.

Hope this helps...
