I need to install a second pri to an existing MICS 6.1 system. I want to configure the card before the T1 is installed. I powered down the system and removed the DS card in slot 3 and installed the new pri card in slot 3 as the current pri card is in slot 4. Disabled slot 3 and programmed the card. Lost ability to call out or in out to site. Both pri cards are flashing but will not set up.
removed the pri card in slot 3 and power cycled the system. The system set back up ok with just the slot 4 pri.

Please help.

You need to put the second DTI card in a Trunk module.

It's been a long time but I'm pretty sure you can have two PRI cards in the main cabinet, The second card needs to be set as a secondary clock source in hardware. I found this in the manual.

T1 or ISDN-PRI configurations
The following tables indicate proper and improper T1 or
ISDN-PRI configurations:
Valid digital trunk configurations
Tips - In most T1 network configurations, you need one
DTI or DTI card configured as PRI in your ICS to act as a
primary reference. The only application where you might not
have a DTI or a DTI card configured as PRI designated as
primary reference is in a network where your Norstar system
is connected back-to-back with another switch using a T1 link.
If the other switch is loop-timed to your Norstar system, your
DTI or DTI card configured as PRI can be designated as a
timing master.
Tips - (continued) If your Norstar system has two or more
DTIs, you cannot assign more than one DTI as primary
reference or all of the DTIs as secondary reference.
You can only have one primary reference and one secondary
reference per system. See T1 or ISDN-PRI configurations for
more information.

Card 1 T1 or PRI T1 or PRI BRI-ST, BRI-U2,
BRI-U4

Card 2

Thanks for your help. Does the T1 on the second card need to be connected for the card to set up?

Not sure on connected but looks like you go and disable the card, then change card from Loop to PRI and program away then enable it.

I am thinking when you first show up to site:
-Change card to loop
-Disable
-Power Down
-Change card
-Power Up
-Program
-Enable card

But wait for others to chime in.
