I need to increase the session time on an open report page

Hi,

BOEx1/ CRxi (both release 2)

Users are complaining that certain reports , on which they work for a prolonged period of time, time's out after while when they page to the second, third, etc pages if they remain "inactive" on any particular page.

Where do I change this session allowed time?

How much time - in minutes, are they "inactive"?.....and then what happens when they try to go to the "next page"?

Hi,

When a user is "inactive" for over 15 mins, then when they try and page to the next screen, they simply get a blank screen with the words "session expirted" in the top left corner.

What CE Viewer and what Database?

The source database could be anything really, but mostly MS SQL or Oracle

We had an Oracle DB that was timing out. After making sure the CE Pageserver, cacheserver,etc all had inactive sessions to timeout after 20 or so minutes, we then went after IIS timeouts on the CE Server.

No Luck.

Finally we found that the the Oracle ODBC connection was only bringing back 10 records at a time. We set it to 5,000 and - NO More Timeouts.

The answer turned out to be a setting in the wb.config of InfoView:
Change the timeout="20" in the sessionstate section from 20 to a higher value in minutes)
