I would like to update a "locking" field in a table if a browser window closes either by the user or by the system forcing the browser window closed. Javascript doesn't seem to be the best option and I would like to know if there is something I could use in coldfusion.

Thanks.

Actually as this is client side issue, javascript may be your best option - you could possibly use javascript when the page unloads to fire a remote request to the server. You will need to double check that this is possible as I am not 100% sure that the unload will always fire on a browser close. Also you should be aware that unload will fire when the page unloads - if you have this on every page it will fire even when the user navigates to another page

I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work.
