Hey I have a LSI Logic 8951U controller card, that I just installed on my Computer running Windows XP pro, I also installed a IBM DDYS-T18350N Ultrastar SCSI Hard Drive, when I try to initialize the hard drive it gives me an error messege that says : "An unexpected error has occured. Check the system event log for more information on the error. Close the Disk Management console, then restart Disk Management or restart the computer."....the event log is not telling me nothing on the error it just says unspecified error. I dont know what to do I have even tried Partition Magic, but no luck...I know the drive works because it was working before..if you have any suggestions or help it would be greatly appreciated, thank you

Hi,

I suppose you changed the SCSI-controller board with a new one.
This sounds to me as a terminator or terminator-power problem . (I suppose you did not change anything to the harddrive)
Are terminators correctly fitted at BOTH ends of the SCSI-chain ( and not more than that)
Is Terminator power only applied to one end of the cable.
If this is OK it should work.
You should also be able to go into SCSI controller diagnostics mode (or whatever it can be named)and check a few things from there.

Hope this helps you a bit further.
Rudi
