I need help using Gifs in Flash with the download time

I have made a Flash movie which incorporates about 6 gifs that are relatively detailed photographs. My problem is that the download time is so huge that it is unusable. Am I doing something wrong? I have tries to reduce the GIFs which works but you lose the quality of them which is no good. I have converted them to symbols so that where they are used again it speeds up the download time. Any thoughts???!!!

Use the trace bitmap function in the modify menu (find out a good compromise for your pix, you'll have to experiment a bit...)this will vectorize that pix.<br>then turn them into symbols if you want.
