I need help in understanding and applying ... WEBBOT's 2

I am kind of confused with webbots.

Such as:

I would greatly ... greatly appreciate help in understanding :

1) What webbots are?
2) How I can create them - on my own (or if this is even possible?
3) How can I modify webbots? (Where are they modified .. and in what way?)
4) In general ... I would like to know more about them?
5) Can webbots be used on a UNIX server or only on a Windows server??

I don't know a great deal about webbots, but here is my understanding:

1. MS FrontPage uses webbots to extend functionality of web-pages, things like verifying form elements, navigation bars that are dynamically generated, shared borders, themes etc

2. If it is possible to code your own webbots, the best place to look would be on the Microsoft developers site (not sure of the URL)

3. Generally webbots are modified by the FP application when you change things like the levels in your navigation bar, or how form elements are validated. I guess you could also recode what is in the HTML, but not sure what sort of results you might end up with.

4. I'd like to provide you more info, but this is pretty much all I know. Again, have a look for references to webbots on the Microsoft developer site, or try and track down an advanced book on FrontPage

5. I *think* webbot-related code can only be used on servers that have the appropriate FP Server Extensions on them (mostly IIS servers, but I believe the extensions can be used with other servers (apache etc) and you can get a UNIX version - not sure what others...)

Sorry for being vague, hopefully someone else could provide you with more detailed info...

Arion23 is right--if you're using webbots, they will not work right if your server doesn't have the newer extensions installed.
