We are set up with the Nortel MICS and 6.1 software. Currently we have all lines appearing on all phones, but only ringing at the receptionist.

We would like to have a "night ring" setup where certain phones spaced around the building would ring when the receptionist leaves.

We've tried having her forward to a hunt group which includes the phones we want to ring, but it doesn't work - they don't ring.

She can forward to an individual phone and it rings fine, but not when it's a member of the hunt group.

Any ideas on how to make this work?

Thanks

Lance Robaldo.

1. you need to create a ringing group with all teh extensions
2. you need to setup for auto/ manual night mode

ok, that worked, sort of...

All the desired phones ring when I turn on evening service, but the NAM immediately answers!

Is there a way to turn on that ringing group without turning on the evening service?

Thanks,
Lance Robaldo

Make sure that the DN's of the NAM are not part of the group.

I went through the list of extensions for that ring group. Only the extensions that I want to ring are part of it. The NAM is ext 324 and is not on it.

Any more ideas?

Does the AA answer or does a mailbox answer?
If a mailbox answers then a phone is feature4 forwarded to voicemail and is included in your ring group.
Also by default all lines are programmed to be in ring group 001 along with the DN on port 0101.
Your ringing DN's should be in ring group 001 don't use a new ring group unless you have to have various lines answered differently.

Thanks for the reply David. It is the AA that answers.

You say not to use a new ring group? Then how do I accomplish my goal?
Did you read my original question?

I need an "evening ring" feature where several phones around the building will ring after the receptionist has left for the day.

I also still need our "night service" where the AA answers immediately after the office has closed for the night.

Thanks,

Lance Robaldo

Sorry I misunderstood the question.
You will have to automate the schedules.
Use the new ring group for your set DN's and apply to the evening service only.
The services will need to be automatic:
Example:
Weekdays
Evening
Start time 17:00
Stop time 22:00

Night
Start time 22:00
Stop time 09:00

Weekends
Night
Start time 04:00
Stop time 04:00

If you dont need both of the ring services to operate at the same time, you can program two seperate services (i.e. night, and evening) When you press feature 871 from the control phone you can press the next soft key to choose the service you want to activate.

The only way you can have this setup is if you have one group of lines answered by AA, and the rest on the Night Ring scenario.
A line can be in only one ring group, so either it is answered by the AA or rings on Night Ringing
If there are still employees in the office when the receptionist leaves, use a ringing service that incorporates a number of ringing sets until the last person leaves. Then that person changes the service mode to one that uses the AA to answer the calls

You certainly can have different ring groups assigned to lines.
I have tested your scenario in my lab and it works perfectly using manual or automatic schedules.
Do a button inquiry at the reception set to make sure you are programming the right lines using feature*0 you will see the actual line number followed by the line name from administration.
Assign the voicemail dn to the night ringing service via lines assigned to ring group 001.
Assign the set dn's to the evening service by assigning ring group 002 to the lines in evening service.
Pre-assign those set dn's in ring group 002 settings.
If the auto attendant is still answering then check to see if the lines are prime to the voicemail dn. If they are change the prime set assignment to the reception DN.
Also check the AA programming in the voicemail for all the lines on your system and make sure they are not answered by the auto attendant.

Thanks for following up on this David.

I think I had inadvertantly set up the AA extension as one of the members of ring group 2, so it was answering immediately.

I've removed it now, and it seems to work fine manually. I've set it up to come on automatically at 5:30 tonight, so I'll know soon if it works.

Big thumbs up on that one![thumbsup2]

Thanks again,
